WRIGHT TOOL — HOT-FORGED AMERICAN TOOLS SINCE 1927
Wright Tool Company was founded in 1927 by C. Nelson Wright in Barberton, Ohio. From selling tools out of the back of his car, Wright built a manufacturing operation in America’s industrial heartland. By 1940, the company began hot forging sockets at the Barberton plant—pioneering a process that delivers higher toughness, longer wear and reliability versus traditional cold forming.
Wright’s innovations include the Wright Drive geometry (patented 1987) for increased torque and contact area, and Wright Grip (2002) for open-end wrenches—both since advanced to 2.0 generations—plus Wright Square (formerly Wright Spline). Torque offerings span micro-adjust “click” wrenches, dial torque, electric dial models and torque screwdrivers, all compact for confined areas and built to meet or exceed accuracy standards.
A privately-held, management-owned company, Wright remains rooted in Barberton with 100% American manufacturing. Over 99% of Wright-branded products are made in the USA from proprietary Wright alloy steel under one roof. Tom Futey was named President in Feb 2021 (the fourth in company history), continuing ownership alongside Terry & Patricia Taylor (acquired 1998). Wright serves construction, power generation, automotive, government/GSA and heavy industry, standing behind its tools with a lifetime warranty and a culture of “Perfecting Performance.”

NORD-LOCK GROUP — WEDGE-LOCKING & ADVANCED BOLTING SOLUTIONS
Nord-Lock Group traces its origins to 1953 when Nobex Maskiner was founded in Spånga, Sweden. After financial difficulties and a relocation of production to Mattmar in 1960, a pivotal transformation came in 1982 when Kurt Persson, son of founder Bengt Persson, acquired the patent for wedge-locking washers and began manufacturing under the Nord-Lock brand, addressing the industry’s need to prevent bolt loosening under vibration and dynamic loads.
The company’s technological foundation is the wedge-locking principle: paired washers with cam faces and radial teeth create a secure mechanical lock that resists spontaneous loosening in critical applications. In 1994, Investment AB Latour acquired the business, providing the platform for global expansion from a specialized Swedish manufacturer to a comprehensive bolting solutions provider.
Through strategic acquisitions—Superbolt (multi-jackbolt tensioning, 2011), Boltight (hydraulic bolt tensioning, 2015) and Expander System (pivot pin solutions, 2016)—Nord-Lock Group evolved into a full-service portfolio spanning wedge-locking washers, mechanical tensioners, hydraulic tensioning tools and custom solutions. NORBAR — PRECISION TORQUE CONTROL SINCE WWII
Norbar began in 1942 when William “Bill” Brodey and Ernest Thornitt secured approval from the UK Ministry of Supply to manufacture torque wrenches domestically for wartime production. Incorporated as The North Bar Tool Company on 8 May 1943 in Banbury, the firm became Britain’s first commercial maker of torque wrenches purpose-built to tighten the gasket-less cylinder heads of Rolls-Royce Merlin aero engines powering the Spitfire and Hurricane.
Post-war, Norbar pivoted briefly to household goods before refocusing on aerospace and industrial torque solutions under multi-generational Brodey family leadership. Engineering milestones included the 1953 collaboration with GKN on air-driven torque tools and the renowned “Slimline” torque wrench mechanism launched in 1963, designed with gearbox authority Dr. Henry Edward Merritt. Formal engineering practice accelerated from 1952 when Ian Brodey brought comprehensive technical drawings and range expansion; John Brodey joined in 1957 as the first full-time salesman, and Neill Brodey later served as director from 1987 to 2025.
In May 2017, Snap-on Inc. acquired Norbar for US$72M, capping 74 years of family ownership. Today, Norbar operates from a modern 170,000 sq ft Banbury facility (relocated 2016) with ~330 employees and remains unique in offering factory-standard calibration services across four continents via accredited labs—UKAS (UK), NATA (Australia), NVLAP (USA), SAC-SINGLAS (Singapore), and TAF (China)—with additional operations in New Zealand and India. INGERSOLL RAND — INDUSTRIAL TOOLS & FLOW CREATION SINCE 1871
Ingersoll Rand traces its industrial heritage to 1871 when inventor Simon Ingersoll patented a steam-powered rock drill that transformed construction and mining. In José F. de Navarro’s machine shop, Henry Clark Sergeant strengthened the design with a two-piece front head and cylinder, leading to the creation of the Ingersoll Rock Drill Company (1874) even as Simon Ingersoll himself died in 1894 with little reward for his breakthrough.
Modern Ingersoll Rand emerged in 1905 via the merger of Ingersoll-Sergeant Drill Company and Rand Drill Company, forming Ingersoll-Rand Company—then “the largest builder of air power machinery in the world.” The business rapidly expanded into pneumatic tools (1907), industrial pumps (1909), centrifugal pumps (1913), and introduced the jackhammer (1913), which quickly became an industry standard.
Today’s Ingersoll Rand took shape in February 2020 when Gardner Denver Holdings merged with the industrial segment of the former Ingersoll-Rand plc (now Trane Technologies). The combined company is a global manufacturer of mission-critical flow creation and industrial technologies—compressed air systems, power tools, material handling, and fluid management—serving construction, manufacturing, energy, transportation and more, continuing a 150+ year legacy of innovation and quality.

HYTORC — HYDRAULIC & PNEUMATIC TORQUE SYSTEMS SINCE 1968
HYTORC was founded in 1968 by John K. Junkers in New Jersey as Cita Industries, Inc., beginning as an importer and distributor before recognising a critical need for safer, more accurate industrial bolting. Heavy-industry joints were commonly tightened with large wrenches and hammers—“tight” meant when the nut stopped turning—leading to loosened nuts, failures, leaks and costly shutdowns. HYTORC set out to change that.
The breakthrough arrived with the first hydraulically powered industrial torque wrench system—a hydraulic ratchet driven by a pump that delivered unprecedented precision and safety. The company adopted the HYTORC name in 1975 and secured patents in 1977. The platform has since expanded into air-powered, electric and battery-powered torque tools, with HYTORC credited with “nearly every major innovation in industrial bolting over the last 45+ years.” Its mission since 1968: optimize industrial bolting through the safest, most accurate and efficient means possible.
Now led by the second Junkers generation—including COO Jason Junkers—HYTORC operates as the HYTORC Division of UNEX Corporation from its headquarters in Mahwah, New Jersey, supported by global service centres for repairs, calibrations and training. HUCK — LOCKBOLT & BLIND FASTENING INNOVATION SINCE 1944
Huck stands as a legendary pioneer in the fastener industry, with origins in 1944 when founder Louis C. Huck developed the first lockbolt fastener for the U.S. Navy to solve vibration-induced loosening on combat aircraft. According to industry legend, Huck sketched the concept on a Wabash commuter train, creating a lockbolt with a unique locking groove that eliminates gaps and resists loosening over time. The innovation proved so successful that every B-24 Liberator and most F6F Hellcat aircraft produced in 1944 used Huck lockbolts.
Huck’s breakthrough replaced traditional threading with cold-forming/swaging to create joints that withstand vibration and fatigue. The technology rapidly spread beyond military aviation into railcars, ships and any application where vibration resistance is critical.
In 2000, Huck joined Howmet Aerospace (formerly Alcoa) as part of Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS), which now serves both aerospace and industrial markets. Today, Huck fasteners are ubiquitous in transportation manufacturing—Class A truck chassis, railcars, truck trailers, agricultural equipment, telecom towers and solar systems—offering high strength, consistent installations and a dependable alternative to nuts/bolts and welding.
